This article will provide instruction on how to Activate a terrminal once an activation code is provided on screen.
1.The user will need to access the correct merchant account within Merchant track via Single Sign on.
2. Once open the very next page will provide different options on the far left side of the screen where one of the options will be the "Terminals" option.
The terminals button gives two options.

- Activate Terminal allows a merchant to activate a new terminal.
- Activate Terminal allows a merchant to activate a new terminal.
- View Terminals allows a merchant to view any active terminals under any merchant/location to which they are assigned.
Editing After Activation
The Edit button allows you to rename the terminal or remove the terminal.

- The Merchant field shows to which merchant/location the terminal is assigned.
- The Description field is a editable field, which allow you to change the nickname of the terminal.
- The Save option would allow you to save any changes made to the description field.
- The Remove option would unlink the terminal from that merchant/location. It would then need to be reactivated.
- The Merchant field shows to which merchant/location the terminal is assigned.
Potential issues durring activation:
A System error has Error has Occurred while attempting to register the terminal:
We have seen this issue when there is a communication issue when attempting to activate the device
1. Run a few network speed tests ideally throughout the day to determine if the issue is intermittent network connection related.
2. We have also seen attempting activation later in the day or next day the terminal is able to activate
3. Issue could be configuration related – if steps 1 and 2 fail then the terminal may need to be replaced.
Terminal ID not found for merchant Specified:
This Error indicates that the POS Software (cobrand) is calling on a terminal ID that does not exist in Merchant track for the specified account.
We will need to work with the cobrand to ensure the following:
1. Was the terminal activated under the correct account?
2. the terminal ID found within merchant track under the terminals tab will need to be provided to the Cobrand.
Once we confirm the terminal is activated under the correct account and that the cobrand is using the correct terminal ID found within merchant track the issue should be resolved.
Invalid Activation code:
This error is returned when the activation code provided by the terminal was entered incorrectly or has expired.
The activation codes will last roughly 10-12 minutes before expiring where a new one will be provided by the terminal.
- Recommended to reboot the terminal to generate a fresh activation code to enter at the time of activation.
- This error can also populate if attempting to register a test configured device in the production environment (Test terminal activation codes will start with a C for TriPOS configured devices)
